Saturday 11th February 2012, Winter Wader Walk, Barnaby’s Sands and Burrows Marsh nature reserves, Wyre estuary

A crisp winter walk with the Wyre Rangers around Barnaby’s Sands and Burrows Marsh nature reserves. Explore this habitat that is so important for wading birds. Meeting point is at the car park at The Heads, Burrows Lane, Stalmine SD352454 Bring stout footwear, warm clothing, lunch and binoculars/telescope if you have them.

Sat 18th February 2012, Marine Identification Course, Leighton Moss, Silverdale, Lancashire.

A basic introduction to identifying marine organisms both on the shore and under water.

No previous knowledge required. The course is aimed at  anyone that enjoys being on the shore.

Start at 10.00hrs. End 16.00hrs approx.

Enjoy a walk on the beach and identify the various shells and other wildlife found there.

The group will be meeting in the Lifeboat Road car park L37 2EB, and walking down to the shore together, which is about a 10min walk. Meeting spot will be by the information board in car park bay 1 (Turn right off lifeboat road into the Car park, then left at the Y junction and left again shortly after that).

Come along and help to combat the massive marine litter problem.

Meet Half Moon Bay car park at 11.00 hrs.

June (date TBC) Wildlife Safari, Humphry Head Nature Reserve

Reserves officer Pete Jones leads a family walk (suitable for children 6+), taking advantage of low tide to examine the special habitats geology and wildlife found here. Use special bug tracking kit to detect long-winged coneheads and more. Depending on the route, you may get your feet wet! So bring weather appropriate clothing.

Meet at they layby at humphry head NR entrance, near Grange-over-Sands SD388746 not suitable for wheelchairs, no dogs allowed.
